2.2 Questions 2.2A Subject questions and object questions We can ask: 1 questions about the object Who did he go to the party with? He went to the party with Thomas. 2 questions about the subject Who saw that film last night? Ayako saw it. 1 Questions about the object • We use the auxiliary verb and inverted word order (auxiliary verb + subject + main verb). • The expected answer is the object. Where do you live? (I live) in Krakow. Which station do we get off at? (We get off) at Paddington Station. Who did you see at the party? (I saw) Anne Marie. 2 Questions about the subject . We don't use the auxiliary verb and we don't change the order of the subject and verb. The word order is the same as it is for statements. . The expected answer is the subject Who gave you those beautiful heser Ricky (gave them to me). How many people want a drink? Five people (want a drink). Which city is bigger, London or Paris?
